Mechanically Sealed Plastic Centrifugal Pump

Our CTP is a Mechanically Sealed Plastic Centrifugal Pump manufactured from glass reinforced PP or PVDF and has been outfitted with high-quality mechanical seals featuring SiC or Graphite Rotating Elements, SiC Stationary Elements, and Hastelloy C-276 Springs. Designed to pump highly corrosive liquids containing solids and metallic particles in suspension up to 3mm in diameter, these pumps can handle concentrations up to 10%. Additionally, all metallic parts are protected against contact with the fluid for enhanced product integrity and chemical compatibility.

Typical applications for our Plastic Centrifugal Pump:

  • Chemical
  • Surface Treatment
  • Water Treatment
Overview

Our CTP Mechanically Sealed Plastic End Suction, Close Coupled, Single Stage Centrifugal Pump features a Semi-Open Impeller available in either Glass Reinforced PP or PVDF. They have been specifically designed for pumping chemicals containing particles in suspension up to 3 mm & concentrations up to 10%. As a result, they have been fitted with high-quality mechanical seals with rotating elements in either SiC or Graphite, Stationary Elements in SiC & Hastelloy C-276 Springs.

The PP-GF version provides great mechanical strength, handling liquid temperatures up to 70°C. The PVDF version offers superior chemical resistance, handling liquid temperatures up to 90°C.

As the seal is located on the dry side of the pump, all metallic parts are therefore protected against corrosion and no elastic bellows are required. Shafts are constructed from AISI 316L as standard or Hastelloy C-276 and protected by plastic sleeve and nut compatible with the pump materials. Should any leaks occur through the seal, there is a special drainage port fitted to the back casing, allowing leakages to be collected via a PVDF barb connector. This prevents the process fluid from contacting the motor and shaft.

The CTP range currently consists of 2 set sizes, the CTP32 & CTP50, which cover flow rates up to 28m³/hr and heads up to 19m. Max process fluid temperatures range from 70ºC – 90ºC depending on the pump materials, and max viscosities up to 200 cPs.

These Pumps are typically used for tank to tank transfer applications. However, when used in conjunction with our comprehensive range of control accessories, they can also be used for pressure boosting, dispensing, loading and offloading, tank cleaning, batching and metering.

The CTP Range is ideally suited to the following applications:

  • Chemical Transfer: Storage tanks to smaller vessels and containers.
  • Surface Treatment: Transfer, Filtration & Circulation round Surface Treatment Baths
  • Water Treatment: Dosing & Transfer of Acids, Alkalis used in Cleaning Chemicals & Nanofiltration
  • Chemical Manufacturing: Transfer & Pumping of Chemicals & Industrial Detergents
  • Demineralisation: Circulation & Transfer of Demineralised Water
  • Photo Processing: Transfer of Photo Developmental Chemicals & Integration into Processing Machines
  • Liquid Crystal Manufacture: Transfer & Circulation of Concentrated Acids & Alkalis with Crystals in Suspension
  • Food & Beverage: CIP Processes
Features & Benefits
  • PP & PVDF wetted materials: It can handle highly corrosive liquids also containing solids and metallic particles. Pumps can bear high-temperature liquids, alkali and acids. The version in PP-GF (glass fibre reinforced polypropylene) provides excellent mechanical strength and allows liquid temperatures up to 70°C. The PVDF version offers superior chemical resistance and will enable temperatures up to 80°C – 90°C
  • Semi-open Impeller: Allows pumping liquids with particles up to 3mm and 10% in concentration. Compared to the pumps with magnetic coupling, metallic particles are no obstacle for the CTP Pumps. A semi-open impeller also eases the transfer of liquids with higher viscosity
  • Non-metallic Pumps: The wetted components are non-metallic injection moulded thermoplastics enabling excellent corrosion resistance. The shaft is protected by means of a plastic sleeve and nut compatible with the pump housing material
  • Safety Drain: The special revision hole in the back of the casing provides drainage from the mechanical seal in case any leakage occurs. This prevents the motor and shaft from contacting the pumped liquid. The PVDF barb connector allows plugging a hose and routing the liquid out of the pump
  • Mechanical Seal: The spring is located on the dry side of the pump therefore, all metallic parts are protected against contact with the liquid. This means no elastic bellow is required
  • Trimmed Impeller: To fit the required duty point, impellers can be trimmed, reducing the diameter of the impeller. This reduces the circumferential speed inside the centrifugal pump and reduces both flow and head, without changing the rotational speed of the motor. The impeller diameter can be trimmed by a maximum of 10mm
