Recently a new client in London approached us with a unique concept and brief; build a slime vending machine. Who better to conceptualise, build and deliver on a tailored pump solution than Tapflo UK. Operating as the UK’s first high-street slime store, Gootopia has quickly gained popularity since its recent opening in the Lewisham Shopping Centre. Designed to offer a unique and engaging experience for children, Gootopia provides a wide range of slime-themed activities and packages. As a remarkable attraction, Gootopia introduced the world’s first slime vending machine, known as the ‘Goo-to-Go’ machine. To power this innovative vending solution, Gootopia partnered with Tapflo UK, and the engineering team were keen to jump on this exciting project.

A design house came to us requiring a pump for their powder system, being manufactured for an end-user to be used for drum slurry removal in the pharmaceutical industry. The fluid being pumped was classed as Pharmaceutical Slurry (<2000cP) and stored in drums. For this application, we selected a 2” bi-wing Lobe Pump, due to its cleanability (fully drainable design), viscous slurry handling capabilities, and low pulsation output. Whilst the pump was an easy selection, the motor proved to be a challenge due to the necessary requirements from the end-user.

A customer in the agriculture industry approached us with the need to streamline their egg waste protocol, as their current method was taking a lot of time and manpower from their process.

They were working with eggs falling off the conveyor line and being collected into 20-litre buckets, which were then carried up a 2-metre ladder and emptied into a large silo by hand. Depending on production levels, 200-300 buckets could get filled in a day which is not only time consuming but also comes with some health and safety concerns, especially when the buckets are full.

After discussing this with our internal sales engineering team, we had a robust, cost-effective solution for the customer within just a couple of hours.

Tapflo UK have offered a range of replacement Diaphragm Pumps in place of a competitor’s pump that was not performing correctly for the customers. We worked closely with one of our distributors, Crest Pumps, whose end-user was a Galvanising Plant. The end user’s existing pumps were breaking down regularly, only lasting a couple of weeks before they needed to be replaced. This was due to a highly corrosive atmosphere. To ensure we could deliver the ideal solution to our customer, Tapflo followed standard procedure in order to specify a solution that met the end user’s requirements.

One of our long-standing clients in Chemical Manufacturing, Johnson Matthey, came to us requiring a solution to pump harsh chemicals in an ATEX environment. We supplied a bespoke ATEX Barrier Pump Skid System with our Barrier Diaphragm Pump and some added Tapflo pump accessories.

We were contacted by a UK start-up company that had developed a great idea to use green waste to create sustainable faux leather. After outlining their functional, application & system requirements, we were able to design & provide the customer with a complete turnkey skid system that included a self-priming flexible impeller pump, hygienic trolley w/ drip tray, variable speed drive, flow meter w/ totaliser & sight glass along with custom pipework & valving layout.

The mobile solution fitted their requirements perfectly as it would give them the versatility and mobility that they required in their facility.

The End User, a paint manufacturer, wanted an ATEX Rated Self-Priming, Pneumatically Operated, Mobile Paint Filtration Skid with a Self-Cleaning Filter which could be used for transferring various types of solvent and water-based paint from their mobile mixing vessels onto their filling lines. Over the years they had tried various combinations of gear pumps with different types of filters however had run into problems with dry-running, filter clogging and priming problems.

We were approached by a trusted and long-standing distributor to come up with a Diaphragm Pump Driven solution that provided the customer with a controllable, safe, more reliable pump solution that would enable them to improve their filling capabilities, reduce their downtime as well as meantime before failures. A tough ask but, as always, Tapflo were up to the challenge!

Here at Tapflo, one of our clients works in construction and had a significant contract at a large oil refinery. Work had to be grounded to a halt very quickly during the operation due to flooding in the bays where the contractors worked daily. There was pressure for the system to be up and running again, with essential deadlines to hit and work not being resolved until the flooding was dealt with properly. Therefore, Tapflo UK was able to provide an emergency pump solution promptly to deal with the issue.

Towards the end of 2020, Tapflo released a new range of High-Performance Centrifugal Pumps called the CTX. Tapflo UK worked closely with one of our distributors to support them in providing a pump solution that would be used with extremely harsh chemicals. In this instance, we had originally quoted and supplied the customer with TX220 STT Diaphragm Pumps, but the diaphragms were wearing, and the product was starting to seep out, contaminating the air supply and causing spillages. Not only was this a huge health and safety red flag, but it was also wasting money, particularly as the pumps were running 24/7. The customer wanted further protection, so our distributor returned to us to discuss the options.

When first quoting these pumps, the option for a Barrier Pump had been given but was rejected due to an initial higher upfront cost than our standard Diaphragm Pumps. With the problems that the customer was facing, we knew exactly what solution they needed.
